We live here all year ourselves and every winter we see the same people return, for the calm, the light and a town that simply carries on. The winter months also carry our lowest prices of the year.
How warm is it here in winter, really
From December to February daytime temperatures are usually 16 to 18 degrees, with sun strong enough to sit outside on a terrace. Evenings are cool, around 8 to 10 degrees, so bring a jumper and a coat. Rain is rare; most winter days are simply blue.
Let us be honest: this is winter sun, not summer. If you want 25 degrees and beach life in January, go to the Canary Islands. If you want walking weather, terrace weather and light, this is your place.
San Pedro is not a summer resort that closes
Many coastal resorts fold themselves up in October. San Pedro del Pinatar does not: it is a real town of over 25,000 people, with a fishing harbour, a weekly market that runs all year and shops and restaurants that stay open because the locals eat there in January too.
For a winter guest that is the difference between a stay and a life. You buy your bread at the same bakery we do, you get a nod on the promenade, and after two weeks the terrace knows your order.
What you do here in winter
The salt lakes are at their best in winter: that is when the flamingos are most numerous, and you walk or cycle there without the summer heat. The mud baths are simply there too, with fresh water and no queue. The promenade fills with walkers on every sunny afternoon.
For greyer days, Cartagena and Murcia are thirty to forty-five minutes away: museums, a Roman theatre, tapas bars and shopping streets. And most weeks there is a market or fiesta somewhere nearby, because those take no winter break here.

Both homes are fully equipped for real living: a complete kitchen, washing machine, fast wifi that is perfectly good for working, and pets are welcome. In the winter months we charge our lowest nightly prices of the year.

Is everything open in winter?
The town lives all year. Supermarkets, bakeries, the weekly market and a good share of the restaurants keep going; only some of the beach bars close out of season.

Usually ~16 to 18 degrees and sunny by day, ~8 to 10 degrees in the evening. Terrace weather by day, jumper at night.
Can you swim in winter?
The water is ~13 to 15 °C then. The regular morning swimmers do it daily; most guests stick to walking along the water.
Is the wifi good enough for working?
Yes, both homes have fast wifi. Every year people winter here while working part of the time.

Yes, pets are welcome in both homes for a fee per pet. The salt lakes and the off-season beach are a paradise for dogs with owners who like to walk.
